The unit debuted at the PGA Show in Orlando and The Hackers Paradise got a first look at it there. Here are some of the features we learned about at the show.

Durability is where the Yardage Pro really shined. With a rubberized exterior and a completely weather resistant unit, this GPS unit is ready for the outside elements. Something a few others units that we have tested seem to lack.

So I guess that is what you will have to ask for at your local sporting goods store if you are inspired to take a look at one of these units after reading this review. Me, I’d have named it the “Legend” and left it at that. In fact, for simplicity (and to save myself some typing) that is how I am going to refer to the Bushnell Laser Rangefinder Yardage Pro Legend throughout the rest of this article.

To address the unit’s sole serious flaw up front, it is this: “PermaFocus.” That translates to bad old fashioned “fixed focus” when you remove the fancy label. Meaning that there is no provision to focus the 6 power monocular to your eye for a sharp image.

Distance can be measured in yards or meters. “YD” or “M” is always shown to the right of the range display as you use the Legend. To change from yards to meters, look through the monocular, press the mode button (left side of unit) and hold it down for 2 seconds. The display will change from yards to meters or vice-versa.

Stop guessing and get the exact distance from where you are to any point on the hole! The Bushnell Yardage Pro GXC GPS features a 2.2″ hi-resolution, sunlight readable, color screen that displays an easy-to-use interface for “hole up” tracking, “down the fairway” perspective and scorekeeping and statistics. Store up to 100 courses, inclduing custom color course maps. Belt clip and storage case are included. The rechargeable Li-Ion battery provides up to 16 hours of use.

I have used the Sport 450 for some time now and have found that the range for deer size game and trees to be accurate. I have not tried it on a golf coarse, and I have yet to find alarge reflective object that is 999 yards away. I have ranged moving vehicles out to 598 yards and I even got a reading of 295 yards off of an Elk on a ridge line one time.  I have found that the accuracy on game with in200 yards is dead on.
