Learn Keys to Efficient Golf Practice for Beginners

Whether it’s baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis or any other sports that involves a ball, there is a feeling of immense satisfaction and pride that comes from hitting the ball solidly. Nowhere does this apply more than in golf, where the small ball goes where it wants on anything but a solid shot.

If you want to hit the ball solidly on a consistent basis, the only way is through practice and more practice.

Though you may not think so, the best time to practice is right after a round. Everything that didn’t work for you during the round is fresh in your mind, and your body and mind are ready to go. Failure to work consistently on the shots that regularly give you the most trouble means your game won’t soon improve.

The key to maximizing your efficiency in practice is creating ‘real’ situations. Ideally, you would mirror what happened in your round and employ your best swings. Also work on hitting balls from every bad lie you can think of. This is extra important if you haven’t played for a while.

You can boost your game further by visualizing a round of golf during lunch or breaks, on your way to or home from work, etc. Imagine taking many good swings and hitting a great shot each time. See your entire body flowing in unison through each shot, completely tension-free. This isn’t useless preparation. You are increasing your muscle memory and preparing them for the next round.

If you enjoy other sports, you can transfer movements in these sports to help your golf game. For instance, the way you shift your weight on a tennis backhand shot is very similar to the bodyweight transfer on a golf shot. Use your tennis experience to remember what you need to do on the links. For detailed steps on how to swing properly we suggest you pick up a copy of the Golf Beginners Guide - it’s a 272 page ebook full of great advice, tips and lessons in golf.

When you’re hitting a lot of balls in one session, remember to take a break between swings. By doing this, you will avoid mental and physical exhaustion and can use the time to process what you’ve learned or accomplished. Remember, you’re not out there to hit a thousand shots, rather a few beautiful ones. Hitting 20-30 balls at a time is sufficient practice, especially if the majority of these are struck on the sweet spot of the clubface.

To promote better contact and to hit a more accurate shot, pull out your favorite iron and try this exercise: take two tees and stick them in the ground a couple of inches apart. (You can also use two balls.) Try (air)swinging your iron through the tees without hitting them. Start with partial swings and work your way up to full swings as you get better at avoiding the tees. Soon you will be hitting the ball more solidly.

It may sound corny, but don’t forget the feeling of a good shot. Memorize it and internalize it, then practice it and you will soon be able to produce it consistently. It’s very easy to lose the feeling of a great shot because there are so many variables that went into hit, from hand position, proper grip and good pre-swing body alignment to the right ball position, clubface impact and follow-through.

The above information is just a small morsel taken from the Golf Beginners Guide. This 272 page ebook is full of golf tips and advice. I think every Golfer should have it, especially beginners.

Hybrid Irons: The Easy Way Out?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount hybrid golf clubs.

Many golfers, including some of the well known PGA golfers, have come to realize the advantages of using hybrid irons, compared to the regular longer irons. Slowly but surely the hybrid iron is becoming a standard item to be found in any golfer’s bag.

Hybrid irons tend to be somewhat easier to hit than the typical longer irons. The center of gravity is situated well behind the normal position. The better launch angle, and better trajectory, is partly responsible for adding the extra distance to the shot.

Besides the center of gravity being further back, hybrid irons also come standard with slightly longer shafts. This makes for a “bigger” swing, and using the extra leverage to improve impact, and drive the ball further.

Hybrid irons, compared to regular irons, are much more versatile. The hybrid can be used in a number of different situations, including fairway bunkers, and long approach shots on par three and four holes. In the odd situation where accuracy is crucial, it can even be used to tee off with.

The downside that has to be accounted for, though, is the difference in performance. Club sets are designed to complement each other in terms of range, but now you have one or more (hybrid iron) clubs “out of sync” with the rest of the set. Somewhere in your set will be a distance unaccounted for. Because of this “distance gap”, you are now faced with a choice: Should you simply carry an extra iron to compensate, or should you buy a set of hybrids? A whole set would be great for your game, but it could prove expensive.

You could always change your set to adapt to every course you play on. The length and layout, and the challenges offered, would determine the composition for the course. If you are playing on a longer course, you could leave out a wedge, and rather make some space for an extra iron. For a shorter course, on the other hand, the wedge might be a more crucial club.

Hybrid irons offer definite, measurable advantages over regular irons, thanks to technologically advanced design. While the design was originally aimed more at assisting the recreational player, manufacturers have eventually decided to produce professional versions for the more seasoned golfers. More and more experienced golfers, even PGA professionals, are including them into their sets. What has started out as an aid for inexperienced players, has now become a regular item.

The Golf Buddy Pro GPS - Turn Your Golf Game Around. Instantly!

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount golf accessories.

With so many GPS golf range finders are on the market these days, it’s getting more and more difficult to know what to go for. We have tested several of these and have picked 1 out that ticks all the boxes. That’s the Golf Buddy Pro GPS. Here are some of the reasons why.

- No Annual Fees To Pay

The big difference between the Golf Buddy Pro GPS and most other systems is the fact that you don’t need to pay an annual fee with the Golf Buddy GPS. That’s less expense and more value. On top of that, you can download additional courses from the manufacturers website for free.

- 20,000 Courses Storage

One big issue that is worth mentioning, is the storage capacity of the GPS golf range finder. There are many systems out there that are good, but fail on this all important issue. The last thing you need to be doing is to always be deleting courses in the units memory to make room for new ones.

The Golf Buddy Pro GPS beats the competition hands down with it’s impressive 20,000 course memory capacity. This feature puts this system miles ahead of the competition. all courses from North America are pre installed into the system, with the added ability to be used anywhere in the world too. World courses can be downloaded to the system whenever you want them.

- Calculate Your Distance To The Whole Quickly

For years golfers have been using the more traditional method of using the sprinkler heads on the golf course to work out the yardage and thus judge the remaining distance to the hole. The Golf Buddy Pro GPS now removes the need for to do any of that. with a couple of pushes of a button, the Golf Buddy will work out your remaining distance to hole within an error range of 2 yards. Not bad.

These were but a few of the reasons why the Golf Buddy Pro GPS out performs the rival competition like it does. We have tested many GPS golf range finders in the last 18 months and the Golf Buddy Pro GPS has far exceeded our expectations. If you are considering a GPS, then look no further than the Golf Buddy Pro.

How To Find A Good Used Golf Cart

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount golf accessories.

Golf is an enjoyable and addictive sport and hobby. Once you have got the golf bug it never seems to go away. Some people enjoy the exercise they get from walking the whole length of the golf course but for those who don’t they invented golf carts.

A golf cart is a simple vehicle powered most often by a gas engine or by an electric motor powered by batteries. Usually a four wheeled vehicle they have to be able to drive around a golf course without causing damage to the fairway or greens.

The electric golf cart offers a quiet and reliable vehicle for easily getting around the golf course. It has the simplest of controls and is very easy to drive. The electric motor is very quiet compared to a gas engine and the maintenance requirements are low and simple to carry out.

The gas golf cart is more like a small car with a low powered gas engine which is generally fairly quiet and economical. Gas powered golf carts do require a little more maintenance that electric carts but with a simple top up of the gas they can run for hours whereas an electric cart might run out of battery power after a few hours use.

Golf carts can cost a fair chunk of money to buy new but a good secondhand used golf cart can be purchased for a lot less. A good used golf cart can offer excellent value for money and so long as you have it checked over just as you would with a secondhand car you can get a great deal.

So long as you check that the used golf cart you are thinking of buying has been properly maintained and it has not been abused then you can reckon on getting a good few years use out of it. With the proper maintenance golf carts can carry on running well for years and years.

Would You Like to Learn Everything You Wanted to Know About Golf

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and Golf Club Wedges.

Golf is a sport in which a player hits a ball into each hole on a golf course in the lowest possible number of strokes. Types of clubs including a driver, a putter, and irons

Golf is one of the few ball games that does not use a standardized playing area; rather, the game is played on golf “courses”. Each golf course has its own unique design and typically consists of either 9 or 18 holes.

Golf is defined this way in the Rules of Golf. “Playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules”

The first game of golf in which records survive was played at Bruntsfield Links, in Edinburgh, Scotland, in A.D. 1456, recorded in the archives of the Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society, now The Royal Burgess Golfing Society.

The modern game of golf spread from Scotland to England and has now become a worldwide game. There are golf courses in most of affluent countries.

Golf competition may be played as stroke play, in which the individual with the lowest number of strokes is declared the winner. It can also be played as a match play with the winner determined by whichever individual or team posts the lower score on the most individual holes during a complete round.

Men and women can be seen everyday on golf courses around the world. They walk or drive in motorized carts over the course. Singly or in groups of two, three, or four, sometimes accompanied by caddies who carry and manage the players’ equipment.

What Are The Best Golf Clubs To Use?

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount titanium golf drivers.

When you take up a new sport you have a high degree of initial enthusiasm and often you are tempted to rush out and get the best equipment and golf is no exception, but what equipment or type of golf clubs does a new golfer really need.

Sadly, you won’t find too many books give a new golfer information and what kind of golf equipment is best for them. The golfer is left at the mercy of the golf pro-shop salesmen to help him, which can prove to be no help at all.

Golf equipment sales are big business all around the world even during a recession and an unbelievable amount of money is spent by manufactures to try and persuade you to buy their products, but advertising and endorsements aside, what does a new golfer actually require?

They get your favorite sports stars to endorse their products making them look like an even more lucrative bargain. However, every one is not a Tiger Woods and will not require the kind of equipment he uses from day one of learning to golf.

By far and away your most expensive purchase is going to be your set of golf clubs, so some time spent researching what’s best for you will pay dividends for both your game and your pocket. Just because a particular brand is endorsed by a pro does not mean that you will play golf better.

Golf clubs are primarily made of Graphite and Steel. There are alternative materials too, like carbon fiber and titanium and composite alloys, but it is best to stick to the tried and trusted steel and graphite.

They work best for beginners as they help beginners starting out to develop their control and accuracy and they are also used by golfers who have a slightly faster swing speed than normal.

Graphite shafted clubs are easier to swing as they vibrate less with the impact to the ball. Graphite shafted clubs are better suited for women and senior golfers who have problems generating enough swing speed to manage a steel shafted golf club properly.

Choosing the right shaft flex is an important consideration too as this will be dependent on your swing style and speed. When your are just starting on your golfing journey, developing accuracy is the most important thing so ask your golf tutor what stiffness will best suit your current style.

Hopefully now that you have a little knowledge you will be more comfortable when purchasing your first (or subsequent) set of clubs.

The Basics of a Good Golf Swing

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount golf iron sets.

The ongoing process of improving your golf swing is what keeps the sport of golf exciting. The key to improving your golf swing is focusing on one aspect of your swing at a time so you avoid the pitfalls of getting into bad habits. IF you can improve your golf swing, you are surely going to lower your handicap.

Each generation of golfers is better than the golf legends who have preceded us because we all learrn from their experiences. A lot of people (including myself) have also experienced a better drive when they go over the most basic rules of a better swing. Even if you are an experienced player like myself, I would encourage you to learn these basic 10 rules of a better gold swing.

1. Stand less than an arms length away from your tee, face the ball and your target, with both of your feet together pointing outward ever so slightly.

2. Exhale slowly as you alternately press the handles away from you until your arms have just a slight bend in them. Makes sure that the shaft and your forearms are on the same plane. Keep your elbows bent slightly as you keep your arms and hands tension-free.

3. Place about 70 percent of your body weight on your back leg.

4. Straighten your spine and have a bit of bend in your knees.

5. Keep your eyes fixed on your golf ball during your entire swing

6. Grip the club as if you are holding a small, delicate lizard. When holding your lizard, your grip should be comfortable and relaxed so your arms can follow through with the swing…whether the Geico in the commercial likes it or not! :-)

7. A professional golf swing will be a fluid, easy motion with your shoulders turning slightly in the backswing and your follow-through complete.

8. Make sure you keep your feet planted and slow down in your backswing. Most problems with a golf swing are cause by swinging too quickly in the back swing and then not accelerating through the ball.

9. You will want to hit the ball in the “sweet spot” or the center of the club. Hitting it anyplace else will cause your ball to travel in directions that you really don’t want it to go in.

10. Grip it and hit the golf ball hard down the fairway!

There are numerous golf tutorials that exist on the internet that can help you with your golf swing, so always look for information and take as much advice as you can get. Learn and do what you see. The best way is to always practice your swing the same way every time.

There are “a hundred” things to know in swinging a golf club and they all have to be working in exactly the right ways at exactly the right time to a have the perfect golf swing. Sometimes this just doesn’t happen, but when it does, it certainly is a great feeling!
