Learn Keys to Efficient Golf Practice for Beginners

Whether it’s baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis or any other sports that involves a ball, there is a feeling of immense satisfaction and pride that comes from hitting the ball solidly. Nowhere does this apply more than in golf, where the small ball goes where it wants on anything but a solid shot.

If you want to hit the ball solidly on a consistent basis, the only way is through practice and more practice.

Though you may not think so, the best time to practice is right after a round. Everything that didn’t work for you during the round is fresh in your mind, and your body and mind are ready to go. Failure to work consistently on the shots that regularly give you the most trouble means your game won’t soon improve.

The key to maximizing your efficiency in practice is creating ‘real’ situations. Ideally, you would mirror what happened in your round and employ your best swings. Also work on hitting balls from every bad lie you can think of. This is extra important if you haven’t played for a while.

You can boost your game further by visualizing a round of golf during lunch or breaks, on your way to or home from work, etc. Imagine taking many good swings and hitting a great shot each time. See your entire body flowing in unison through each shot, completely tension-free. This isn’t useless preparation. You are increasing your muscle memory and preparing them for the next round.

If you enjoy other sports, you can transfer movements in these sports to help your golf game. For instance, the way you shift your weight on a tennis backhand shot is very similar to the bodyweight transfer on a golf shot. Use your tennis experience to remember what you need to do on the links. For detailed steps on how to swing properly we suggest you pick up a copy of the Golf Beginners Guide - it’s a 272 page ebook full of great advice, tips and lessons in golf.

When you’re hitting a lot of balls in one session, remember to take a break between swings. By doing this, you will avoid mental and physical exhaustion and can use the time to process what you’ve learned or accomplished. Remember, you’re not out there to hit a thousand shots, rather a few beautiful ones. Hitting 20-30 balls at a time is sufficient practice, especially if the majority of these are struck on the sweet spot of the clubface.

To promote better contact and to hit a more accurate shot, pull out your favorite iron and try this exercise: take two tees and stick them in the ground a couple of inches apart. (You can also use two balls.) Try (air)swinging your iron through the tees without hitting them. Start with partial swings and work your way up to full swings as you get better at avoiding the tees. Soon you will be hitting the ball more solidly.

It may sound corny, but don’t forget the feeling of a good shot. Memorize it and internalize it, then practice it and you will soon be able to produce it consistently. It’s very easy to lose the feeling of a great shot because there are so many variables that went into hit, from hand position, proper grip and good pre-swing body alignment to the right ball position, clubface impact and follow-through.

The above information is just a small morsel taken from the Golf Beginners Guide. This 272 page ebook is full of golf tips and advice. I think every Golfer should have it, especially beginners.

The Basics of a Good Golf Swing

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount golf iron sets.

The ongoing process of improving your golf swing is what keeps the sport of golf exciting. The key to improving your golf swing is focusing on one aspect of your swing at a time so you avoid the pitfalls of getting into bad habits. IF you can improve your golf swing, you are surely going to lower your handicap.

Each generation of golfers is better than the golf legends who have preceded us because we all learrn from their experiences. A lot of people (including myself) have also experienced a better drive when they go over the most basic rules of a better swing. Even if you are an experienced player like myself, I would encourage you to learn these basic 10 rules of a better gold swing.

1. Stand less than an arms length away from your tee, face the ball and your target, with both of your feet together pointing outward ever so slightly.

2. Exhale slowly as you alternately press the handles away from you until your arms have just a slight bend in them. Makes sure that the shaft and your forearms are on the same plane. Keep your elbows bent slightly as you keep your arms and hands tension-free.

3. Place about 70 percent of your body weight on your back leg.

4. Straighten your spine and have a bit of bend in your knees.

5. Keep your eyes fixed on your golf ball during your entire swing

6. Grip the club as if you are holding a small, delicate lizard. When holding your lizard, your grip should be comfortable and relaxed so your arms can follow through with the swing…whether the Geico in the commercial likes it or not! :-)

7. A professional golf swing will be a fluid, easy motion with your shoulders turning slightly in the backswing and your follow-through complete.

8. Make sure you keep your feet planted and slow down in your backswing. Most problems with a golf swing are cause by swinging too quickly in the back swing and then not accelerating through the ball.

9. You will want to hit the ball in the “sweet spot” or the center of the club. Hitting it anyplace else will cause your ball to travel in directions that you really don’t want it to go in.

10. Grip it and hit the golf ball hard down the fairway!

There are numerous golf tutorials that exist on the internet that can help you with your golf swing, so always look for information and take as much advice as you can get. Learn and do what you see. The best way is to always practice your swing the same way every time.

There are “a hundred” things to know in swinging a golf club and they all have to be working in exactly the right ways at exactly the right time to a have the perfect golf swing. Sometimes this just doesn’t happen, but when it does, it certainly is a great feeling!

Improve Your Golf Game Skills And Scores With Just Little Effort

Mortified regarding the count of turns you need just to knock the ball? Find yourself falling short to attain the right twist in the air once the ball takes flight? Scared of passing up a tap-in that other players are sure to deem a “gimme?”

Believe it or not, you can severely enhance your game in golf by just obeying a few guidelines that focus to amend the manner you view the game.

Golf, as many would say, is more of an interest for the mind rather than a test for the body. Each swing, each pat, and each putt will not stem from the ankle nor the hip nor the wrist. Each motion you will carry out in a game of golf will stem from your mind.

Here are a few tips that can enhance your golfing aptitude, and as a result , severely enhance your game.

Believe. This is the primary, and likely the most vital, guide I can impart with you. Believe that you can hit the ball, and believe that you can hit the ball the immediately. Great golfers share one thing in common: their assertion in their game. Picture Jack Nicklaus mistrusting himself each time his ball touches the bunker. The commended “Golden Bear” wouldn’t have succeeded 18 majors all through his career if he did. Believing that you can is most critical at that moment right before you knock the ball. Any manner of distrust, any manner of faltering, any manner of worry, will affect your nerves and bargain your action. Golf is such a sport that is responsive to the smallest amount of movement, hence, disbeliefs, uncertainties and worries should be eliminated during those dangerous moments spent preparing to swing your iron.

Find your habit. Observe the top players now. Some of them will perform a waggle before a putt. Some of them will execute rehearsal swings before beating the ball. Some of them will even blow a kiss to the spectators. Think these are only marks to make them look composed? Think again. The truth is, these are routines that are meant to bring out the proper amount of electrical charge to the nerves. 90% of a game of golf includes of you and a stationary ball. You will require these routines to make your nerves, and your rhythm, elevated during the span of the game.

Tips for Learning How to Use Golf Putters

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount golf putters

Learning about golf isn’t easy. It can be quite difficult to figure out how to get the power you need to drive the ball far enough down the fairway-and it can take years of practice to gain good golf swing skills. However, learning to accurately and easily use golf putters can take even more golf training.

Putting skills can be improved through golf training academies, or sometimes it can also be quite helpful to work with a caddy. Some people, though, prefer to work on improving their skills on their own because they enjoy analyzing the terrain themselves. Experts also suggest doing putting training with the eyes closed.

Yes, it does sound strange; however, it can be quite helpful to people who are trying to learn how to become skilled at putting. Many professional golfers even use the eyes-closed method with their golf putters when practicing. Here are the three steps to this technique:

Place some golf balls on the green. Use a putter to hit them while your eyes are closed, taking care to notice how the stroke feels as you putt.

Lay down a few more golf balls. Do the same thing as you did previously, except this time putt with your eyes open. Do not aim for a target-you are putting to try to get a feel for the club in your hands.

Finally, try putting toward a goal with your eyes closed. Place one golf ball on the green, take a good look at the green and the target, and then close your eyes. Relax, and try to swing with that same feeling as you had before toward the target.

This is not a technique that anyone will master at first try, of course. Instead, this is a practice technique, one that should become part of a golf training routine. This method will help you to gain control over your putter-if you have the patience to learn it.

Learning to use golf putters accurately also involves figuring out how to read the greens. The greens are different on every hole of every course; therefore, each requires a different approach. You will need to learn how to work your putter on different types of grasses and in different conditions as well. It is important to understand how to interpret each individual green.

Reading the greens on a golf course isn’t particularly difficult; however, like every other aspect of golf, it does involve some practice in order for it to be done correctly. It is essential to know about greens so that you will understand how to get the best control out of your golf putters.

The slope of the greens toward the hole is of special importance. Professionals advise that it is best to put enough force behind golf putters so as to take the ball about 15 to 17 inches past the hole so that the ball stays along a straight line toward the hole. If you don’t hit the ball hard enough, the ball will slow down, and it will start to follow the slope of the green. This could potentially take the ball completely away from the hole.

Missing the hole when putting can be quite irritating for many golfers. It might be helpful to know that even professional golfers miss their putts quite often. In fact, professionals miss about 50% of their 6-foot putts! Amateurs cannot expect to do better than that with their golf putters, can they?

It isn’t easy to learn to use golf putters with great ability; but, any golfer can certainly gain skill with enough practice and effort.

Importance of Perfecting Your Golf Stance

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com

Learning a proper golf stance is important for any golfer. “Place your feet like this. Turn your body slightly to the left so that your ball is directly under your shirt’s logo.” Instructions on perfect your golf stance could go on and on. In fact, some focus on it so much that they lose sight of the ultimate purpose, the perfect game. When you stop to think about it, figuring out your definition to a perfect golf game is likely more important to you than analyzing your perfect stance. If you seek to enjoy the game, it can be a real problem when you find yourself getting caught up in the details of your stance.

Now, this is not to suggest that working on your golf stance is not important. This is quite the contrary, as the pros claim that your swing and stance are at the core of a successful golf game. You may be able to make a great shot with a less-than-perfect stance, but perfecting it allows you to play more consistent golfing each time you are on the course.

First, relax. This may not as easy as you think, especially if you are focusing on the many instructions about what makes a stance good or bad. Your arms should never be rigid, yet should be in a fairly fixed position. Actually, most coaches suggest that your arms should stay relaxed at your side.

The actual stance depends on several factors, including gender according to many who argue that female golfers need a wider stance than men. Keep in mind that your golf stance is the foundation to your golf swing and that balance is very important. When speaking of gender as a factor, remember that the hips and pelvis of women and men are naturally different and, with that, you can get a basic understanding of why women often require a wider stance.

Men tend to have more rigid hip and pelvis areas than that of women and, as such, the male golfer’s body differently to the counterswing and the follow-through. Because a woman’s hips are not so rigid, she has somewhat of an advantage when it comes to the golf stance, as long as she compensates for the difference. Of course, finding a comfortable golf stance takes practice and some trial and error.

Finding your comfort zone is important, but you may have to compromise comfort somewhat to work on your stance since it may take time for a proper golf stance to feel natural. Though you should not maintain a golf stance that makes your body physically hurt, you may feel some discomfort while your body adjusts to the new position.

The stance is only one part of a successful golf game, but a very important one at that. In combination with the club grip and other components of a good swing, the stance helps you with your ability to play a more consistent game. However, remember that golf for most is about having fun. If focusing on the details of your stance is taking away from your enjoyment of the entire game, you may want to stop and take a closer look at how you define a successful golf game. This is true whether you golf in Benidorm or anywhere in the world.

How Far Can You Go With Your Golf Club Distance?

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com

Most golfing newbies ask how far a golf club distance can go, and with how much force should they hit? Generally each golf club has a specific distance range. But in reality it really depends on your swing, and the power of your hit.

A golf club distance depends on a variety of things such as the type of club you are using, the weather condition, the fairway, your physical fitness, your age, your gender, your swing speed, and how your club head connects with the ball.

Sometimes one person’s 5 iron distance is another golfers 3 iron or 7iron distance. According to golf digest most amateurs usually hit their drives at around 195-205 yards. So don’t compare yourself with the pros, because PGA pros hit theirs at around 280-320 yards, while LPGA pros hit at 230-270 yards. See the disparity even in the pros category?

Long Hitter or Short Hitter

As you play regularly you will slowly see whether you are a short hitter or a long hitter. Of course do not expect to be a long hitter the first time you play golf. But whether you’re a long hitter does not always mean that you’re better than the short hitter. After all, there’s still the issue of your ability to putt.

You have to remember that it’s not just hitting the ball. You have to able to hit the ball, and make it fly straight or reach the target. You know there’s no use for long hitters who frequently get out of bounds.

Men’s and Women’s Golf Clubs

There is a chart of range for golf club distance, and you can find this in your favorite golfing stores, sporting stores or online. But there is big difference on percentage when it comes to the Men’s golf clubs versus the women’s golf clubs.

You know that longer clubs generally hit farther right? Since most women are less in height than men, it simply follows that their golf club distance also has a big difference from that of the men’s.

Golf Club Distance Factors

How far your ball travels is also affected by the temperature, air pressure and air direction. Most golfers tend to under club when they are trying to hit the green, so there shots usually fall short.

Have you ever played on golf courses with elevation? Have you noticed that when hitting your ball from a lower elevation to higher one you golf club distance falls short of expectation? That’s because golf club distance are affected with elevation.

Well hopefully, through this article you have gained some knowledge on how golf club distance work. If you need any other information you can always use your search engine.
